What does it take to get better?

What does it take to get rid of TMS? A lot.

Time. Changes in habits. Changes in attitudes. More time. MENTAL BATTLE! Battling day in and day out against a little voice that says you’ll never have a life again. Picking yourself up when things feel hopeless and pushing yourself to do one small thing. Just one. Against the odds.

I’ve had severe TMS for a year. It affects my total mobility. It affects my relationships with family and friends. It affects all my hopes and dreams. It has spiked my anxiety. Made me afraid to leave the house. Pounded down my self esteem to nothing. And wrapped me in scalding pain and fear.

I’ve been hard at work on my internal landscape for the past 8 months. SO many changes have come. And it’s great! But I have had trouble facing my pain, fears and insecurities and GOING OUT of the house. Today I went out! It was easier than last time (3 weeks ago). I really had to picture it and practice it in advance. I had to be determined I didn’t care how much it hurt. I had to be thankful to be alive —and I was SO thankful.

This is REALLY HARD!!! But today I’m SO HAPPY! These victory days are worth all the effort it takes. I hope I can give anyone hope out there who feels they’ll never make it. You will! I know you will! And so will I. Picture your success story! Keep fighting. I will. No matter what.

Stay Calm and Carry On! <3

Thanks for the inspiring post, Diana. Your attitude tells a lot and we can see you're doing a hell of work, and getting closer and closer to when pieces fall into place. Or, how Jim Prussack would put it, the fog vanishes and you see you're way closer to the bay than you thought.
