Hi , I have been reading Dr. Sarnos books now for over 4 weeks and have not really found I am that much better but I feel a lot more positive. I got my sciatica when I decided to end my marriage 3 years ago - in fact the sciatica stopped me moving out for 12 months. It got better but I kept getting a numb left foot, then I got tingling in legs and feet and recently aching in the hands when I got more stress at work. My MRI showed a bulging disc at S1 L4 (?) and some early stenosis with degenerative disc disease which scared the hell out of me. I had a steroid injection which helped a bit but not much. I have along commute to work by car but my back is fine sitting, I still get a sore left foot from walking and tingling legs/feet.
I think I fit the personality type well - I was a perfectionist, I worry a lot, am a goodist (or people pleaser) and can suffer from low self esteem. I think both of my parents had low self esteem and I never really got over my dad dieing when I was 14 - I have never really grieved about this although I am in my 50's.
I can see the affirmation working well as I still go on walks and have a fantastic new partner and am determined to not let it beat me. The biggest worry has been with my hands but I can see no reason why they are feeling stiff - it happened almost over night and sometimes they will feel fine when I am not thinking about them. I am encouraged when I reads of others who have to work on this for a long time and still get better.
