Did 15 min. standing; plus chair workout. Haven’t set a timer and stood in awhile. Need to get back to this! I used to be at 23 min. Apr 16, 2025 at 8:55 PM

  • My Story

I have been fighting TMS all my life. In the past, my symptoms would go away over time if I ignored them. After I learned about Dr. Sarno in 2017, I had one book healing, and then my TMS returned with a vengeance. During the pandemic, I became extremely anxious as most people did. I hovered over the news incessantly, which didn’t help me at all. I also had about five or six personal and family issues going on that were extremely difficult for me and an abusive childhood. Thus, my symptoms exploded —and took over pretty much my whole body. I’m not diagnosed, but I have all the symptoms of complex regional pain syndrome. I’ve had so many strange sensations related to anxiety and adrenaline, I can’t even list them all here. But believe me, adrenaline can cause total havoc in your body.

In the past year of being on this forum, I can’t even name all the things I have learned. Incredibly valuable and important things! I wouldn’t want go back to who I was before or the life I had before. And that is saying a lot because I’m still in pain and debilitated. However, I have full confidence that if I don’t give up, I will overcome this TMS.

I’ve progressed to chair yoga from bed yoga. Bed yoga got too easy. Getting sore now and then but hanging in there.

Here’s where TMS lives: when you lie to yourself. When you overlook things to avoid confrontation. When you don’t speak up.

I keep having these super vivid dreams of walking. I also had one of driving. I hope this is a good sign.

Imo it has to be a good sign... Instead of having to deliberately visualise yourself doing stuff that you've been finding difficult or impossible, your brain has decided to prompt itself into doing it (rehearsing it) without your deliberate intention. The brain works things out while we're sleeping. This is more good news, along with your hands unfurling.

Great! Your brain has given up on your hands and it will eventually give up on heightening your other symptoms... to misuse a saying, that's how the 'cookie' (i.e. TMS) gradually crumbles and disappears in my experience. Also, I think it's a massive 'turning point' when a once seemingly intractable TMS symptom lessens and then goes. Keep on keeping the faith! xx
