Day 34 Frustration

What part of PPD do you think is frustrating or silly? Is there something about the theory you don't accept? What personality trait do you think makes you feel this way?

I think my biggest frustration with the work is the notion that you have to have full belief. I really struggle with my doubts on a daily basis and it feeds into my feels like a failure personality trait that I can't do it right and make it work, thus leading to more doubt, and the vicious circle continues. I know where that comes from, I grew up always wanting to do everything perfectly and knowing I had to excel to continue my education because I needed scholarships and my own loans to go to college. My mom made clear early on that she couldn't help me in that regard.

My posts have made pretty clear that I'm in constant doubt and fear about this being a true physical issue, especially with the spreading of the pain instead of moving to a new area, i.e. the original area still hurts while it spreads outward. I'm doing my best to work on it and believe in the TMS diagnosis. I could get it confirmed, we have an "expert" in our area, but the price is steep. That feeds back into the same frustration, that I should have to spend so much money to confirm what I'd like to be able to work on myself. It has been helpful in that regard to follow a few people on here who stand on the side of not needing that professional confirmation.

I honestly don’t think anyone perfectly believes they have TMS until it starts to go away. Time proves it. But it’s good to have some faith in the process, even if meager, to get you going in the right direction. For what it’s worth- I totally back you on not needing a TMS diagnosis.

TMS spreads. Just read people’s stories. Mine totally did this time. Started in my feet. Crept up my legs all the way to my hips. TMS does all sorts of weird stuff.

Have you taken the two tests that are available online? If you score high— you likely have TMS. These helped me a lot to believe, because I scored high.

There are some real gems in your post Diana-M. It shows how deeply you understand this process.

Most of us started out being skeptical to some degree. Diana-M’s reply is so apt. Buglio calms me also. You don’t need to keep wondering about how little or much you believe. It will come, but how quickly is different for everyone.

I'm on day 1 and skeptical. It took me almost one month to finally decide to commit to this and see if helps my symptoms. The medical field is frustrating with costs. I finally just wrote down all my various pains/aches/diagnosis I've had in the last 20 years and seeing it all paper made me realize that this is the path I need to try. It's my evidence list so I can refer back to it when/if I feel skeptical.
