This one freaked me out long time ago, happened in a restaurant. then while driving. I broke down because i didnt know what was happening to me. I had this aura ocular migraine few times years ago. THIS IS A MIND BODY symptom! I got it in the car while driving and looking at something shiny then boom... from the top corner of the left eye i saw like colorful zig zag weird vision. its like something very unreal. YES they can be scary but once you know that your vision is GOOD and NOT fear them, they will lessen their 15 minute of weird corner eye fright! followed by a huge migraine. last time i had one was in 2013. I never got these again! WHY?: cus i dont fear them. last time it happend was 2013. out of nowhere it tried to trick my eye and then i excused myself, went to the bathroom , looked at the bathroom light and did jumping jacks ( i know , weird) and asked for MORE!! and it left in less than 2 minutes...my vision was perfect and the migraine never came about. NEver again did it try to creep up either Treat it like a friend..like a PRE CURSOR to a migraine! Usually the FEAR of any symptom will make it worse and keep it there for a long time! Also when i read healing back pain by dr john sarno, for another mind body symptom i was having , i came across that the great doctor sarno also had these ocular migraines. brings back memories. Anyway I dont get these any longer AT ALL. I dont fear them. what caused it for me is stress and its a way for your mind to distract you from something emotional and stressful. anxiety was around this ocular migraine. i would think about it everyday until i just gave up, looked at the sun light whenver i would see the floater from the corner of my eye...then it would lessen more and more to a point where the migraine didnt even appear. Never again did it get it, and if i do, ill hug it lol Good luck to everyone going thru this but u dont have to be sad and scared of it. I just want to add, dont google or youtube this.. Ive just saw few videos on this symptom usually from doctors talking about treatment, or run to the ER etc etc, . Do what you like, but I cured myself in a few months from this symtom and it didnt happen everyday, but everyday i was anxious on it. Ive read comments from people that have had this for 50 years! 20 years! 30! 4-5 times a year. some are still on pills. What would bring these on is looking at something shiny...like the glare from the sun hittin the window or a lamp. And the WAY OUT was to give it right back to it...by looking at the sunlight or something very shiny while the weird vision was happening, is what actually cured me from this symptom.

    Take care everyone!

By "cured" are you saying that they go away immediately upon starting, or you just don't get them to start anymore?

I had my first one of these about a month ago (it totally freaked me out at the time), and since then I have had 2 more (both this very week). They don't freak me out anymore but I still have to "ride them out" before they pass - there seems to be no other option unless you're suggesting a technique to eradicate them instead?

The one I had this morning (again, 2nd one this week) seemed like it had another immediately follow it but I practiced some TMS techniques (namely, seeing it as "no big deal") and that one aborted and didn't fully develop unless it just wasn't one afterall.

I know these are TMS symptoms but wow are they ever freaky when they happen. That first one I thought I was going blind!

Very freaky right? i remember the first one was in the car. It was sunny and the glare on my dashboard set it off. First the weird sensation like pulsating..then like tunnel vision (just 1 eye) ... and then when i would try to look on my left side thats when i would see the weird vision like zig zag or like a church window covered in windex or something like that.

I admit the first few times i panicked.. I even went to the eye DR who said I had 2020 vision.

They have heard of these also and said it was stress related and if doesnt stop to go see neurologst.

I didnt want to go that far, so I re read healing back pain.

And to make the long story short... Its been years since i dont get them any longer.

How I cured it... As soon as you feel the eye thing flickering or getting weird... I went straight to the bathroom and looked at the light bulb...or if i was outside..i would look directly at the sun (supposely looking at the light was very sensitive to the eyes and they tell you to go to a dark room bla bla and wait 15 minutes) ...and I would actually do jumping jacks. I would literally just look at anything bright and tell it to come on ...i aint hiding ANYWHERE!

lasted about 5 minutes...no headache.. other one lasted 2 minutes no headache... last one lasted few seconds no headache.

compared to the first time...that eye thing lasted about 15-20 minutes followed by a bad migraine headache.

And thats how I cured it..its like I didnt FEAR them any longer..I really didnt. I actually try to bring one on...and it never came LOL

While i was experiencing these in the beginning, it would happen when i was with my family eating, or in the car or at IHOP it sucked because while everyone is having a good time...u try to smile but on the inside i would be dying smh.

Point of the story is.. this can be 100% cured. You have to invite them in big time. Again for me what worked is looking at the sun or anything light or even doing jumping jacks or anything really and it lasted just minutes...maybe 1-5 minutes the most ...and the last one lasted just seconds.. and never again did it bother me again.

I beat insomnia the same way. the more you pay attention to it, the more it will get you. If you just give up and invite them in or have fun with them...will teach your brain that there is NO FEAR or DANGER.

You will get thru this 1000% its scary the first few times, yes, but standing up to it meaning giving up the fear and giving them a hug ...they will leave 100%.

Smile when and if u get 1. that also helped me alot.

    Take care.

Thank you for replying, so much truth in what you wrote above. The one i had yesterday morning, I actually started sort of laughing at it - like "really? you're going to try this in a grocery store now?"

I also like the suggestion of basically "leaning into it" and challenging it by staring at those bright lights, doing the jumping jacks, etc. But that's the insidious nature of TMS, "it" knows us so well that it usually strikes when we're down and can't immediately think of these strong and aggressive defense mechanisms.

By the way, I had totally forgotten I posted about my aura migraine here and started an actual thread in the support forum. Apologies for the redundancy, I am clearly losing it. :)
