Having thought about this for a day, I'm going to put on my admin hat and state that there is no doubt that this thread was hijacked from its original purpose.

Of course, this is in the nature of an open public forum, and there's no reasonable way to control it, because where do you draw the line? Newbies are particularly prone to hijacking partly because they don't know any better, but mostly because they are so desperate and focused only on their own suffering and will grasp at anything to engage and be heard, rather than take the time to start their own threads.

More experienced members should be more mindful and know better, even if they aren't technically violating any forum guidelines.

The purpose of this thread was to gather knowledge on a particular topic that many people are interested in. The purpose of the thread was NOT to gather opinions. Therefore, I will state for the record that I think it's unfortunate that someone felt the need to go into a lengthy criticism of the topic.

Sorry Jan but i completely disagree, it was not 'hijacked' at all so i feel a bit disappointed that you think that.

One of the biggest golden rules for TMS is to not spend your days trying to fix the problem, i was merely pointing out that the ultimate goal is to heal the nervous system not to follow a so called protocol because it gives an indication that you may not heal if you miss a day here and there. The goal is to live your life despite the pain and discomfort to teach your brain you are fine.

I did stress that people are fine to follow who they want to but i am perfectly fine to give an opinion when i believe they may be hindering their own recovery and trying to help with that.

I will however apologise to cactus if i did upset her with my response

@Fal i feel like you don’t know Helmut’s strategy very well. He’s very similar to Dan Buglio. He's all about soothing the nervous system. Except he challenges symptoms, which is also something Sarno said to do. I feel he could help you, too! But I don’t see why you feel the need to so strongly caution against him. I feel it’s misinformed and you should take the time to learn more about him.

You recommend this: “The goal is to live your life despite the pain and discomfort to teach your brain you are fine.”

That’s exactly what he coaches to do, quite effectively!

    Hi Diana,

Appreciate the comments, trust me i have watched a ton of his videos although some things are good i just can't fully get behind his techniques and the way its explained to people (especially when he puts other mindbody coaches down), however if it helps you nd anybody else then thats great as all we all want is to end this nightmare of pain and other symptoms and get our lives back.

@Fal —yes! We do. I get what you’re saying, though. Helmut has a very unprofessional way about him. No doubt. Across the board. I’m sure he puts off a lot of people. For some reason, some of his concepts hit me just the right way and probably at just the right time. I guess I’ll take what I can get.

Wishing you all the best! I know we both have the same symptoms, so I’m often thinking of you and praying for your speedy recovery. ❤️
