This might be common knowledge but I just wanted to share the power that music has in releasing powerful emotions. I've been avoiding certain songs because it reminded me of a relationship that I really missed. I never really processed that breakup since I was preoccupied with my TMS. I've been journaling about it, but that only brought up so much, so I didn't even think the breakup was such a big deal. Then I decided to listen to a song that reminded me of the peak of that relationship, and the floodgates opened. The feelings were stronger than I expected, but I was determined to feel them and let them go (as I journaled about them). And I'm happy I did.

So if anyone feels stuck or doubting whether they truly processed all there is to process regarding a stressful event, try music from the time it occurred. Or any of your other senses like smell that can help powerfully retrieve memories. It can be more powerful than you expect though so do it in a safe place :)
