Day 4 Small remarks that linger

The question to ponder is about what remarks made by doctors or healthcare professionals have stuck with you since symptoms began.

The first one that really bothered me was with the PA that delivered my MRI results, saying that I had a bone spur, or “mild osteoarthritic findings” in my thumb. He didn’t take the time to show me or explain much, so the fear only grew for months after I was told - I kept thinking that the pain could be from arthritis. This wasn’t anything I expected to hear as a 27 year old with no history of injuries.

The second thing that stuck with me was when my physical therapist told me that my ulna styloid in the wrist was extra pointy. She then proceeded to show one of the other therapists who was also surprised. She didn’t say that it was causing pain, but it made me feel that something was abnormal in my wrist (thus causing me to attribute my wrist pain to that).

i have since had a surgeon rule both of those out as likely causing any symptoms. This helped my mind to relax, but the lingering worry still comes out at different points throughout each week - it’s becoming less and less, but I hope to kick it entirely as I start to retrain my thoughts processes and response to stress.
