Struggling to Stay on Track with the TMS Approach

I guess what I’m really asking is: what do you do when you feel like you’ve given TMS a fair, honest try, but the symptoms are still there?

In my case, I’m trying to focus on allowing and surrendering, but it’s not easy—especially after dealing with symptoms for so many years.

What kind of answer do you want to hear?

do you think you deserve to be rid of this pain?

Here's another question to add to @Rabscuttle's: what else would you be doing if you stopped the TMS work?

Something interesting happened when I replied just now for the last two messages. For a few minutes, I noticed my symptoms improved and felt a shift in energy. When I connected with my feelings, I felt like I was being criticized by you, though I guess you did not try to. For some reason, this brought a different energy.
now when i writing this message i am feeling the symptoms again.
it must be something to try to understand.

Definitely not criticizing you! Just trying to get you to realize that no amount of outside assurance will convince you. It’s going to have to come from you. You need to be your own hero. The TMS brain will find every excuse to extend the goal posts and make you disbelieve.

Not criticizing you at all! Just wanted to help you think about this as I know you have felt discouraged and the resistance can be strong. And I love that your symptoms improved for a brief period! Another sign this is TMS and to keep up the work!! It goes on the evidence list!

    @okaoka
How long have you been aware that the pain may be TMS?
If as you have stated, you have gone through this pain for a very long time, it may take some time for things to bet better.

Another free program you can start with on this site is The Pain Recovery Program.
We also do a free chat on Saturdays at 3pm. They don't go every Saturday, but whenever we have a willing host to run the chat. This is a place to chat in real time with other people with TMS, and it is very helpful. I am hosting this Sat. Come on out and join us, it would be nice to 'see' you.
Looking at the success stories on here, communicating with others on the discussion board, as you have just done, and finding encouragement to accept TMS, help in moving ahead and living life!

    Hi, @okaoka
    I hear ya!

Here’s the thing: What we do here, IS the only way you get rid of TMS. There’s no other way. If it hasn’t worked yet, you haven’t finished doing what it takes to get better yet.

Everybody has a timeline in their mind— sort of like a deadline— and they think, if I don’t get better by this time, then it’s not working. I’m a special case. It won’t work for me. But that’s wrong. Everyone who does the work gets better. Everyone. Maybe not 100%, but much better than you are now!

We don’t get to decide how long this takes. Our subconscious brain does. (Yeah, not fair!) Try arguing with it it! You just have to keep plugging away and keep your eye on the future when you will finally get better.

Don’t get distracted. Stick with it. And above all, don’t give in to discouragement. All that’s going to do is waste more time that you could be using to get better.
